Clothing Protector Invented for Car Meals – Designed by InventHelp Client (RDC-2038)

InventHelp, based in Pittsburgh and founded in 1984, is submitting the SPILL SHIELD to companies for their consideration.

PITTSBURGH, PA (PRWEB) September 28, 2015

Today’s busy schedules and the increasing availability of fast food combine to make on-the-go meals more popular than ever. Thanks to an inventor from Dunn, N.C., it is now possible to spend mealtime in your car without getting food or drinks on your clothing.

He developed SPILL SHIELD to protect clothing from food or beverage stains while eating or drinking in a motor vehicle, other vehicle or anywhere else. As such, it eliminates the wasted time and additional expense of replacing damaged ties, dresses, shirts and other apparel. At the same time it provides a place for motorists to catch crumbs and hold food-related trash. Furthermore, it promotes motor vehicle safety by keeping driver focused on the road. At the same time, it is convenient, effective, easy to use and affordably priced. It is also lightweight, portable, waterproof and disposable. In addition, it is ideal for leisure or business trips by motor vehicle.

The inventor’s personal experience inspired the idea. “I was tired of spilling food and liquids on my suit while eating in the car,” he said. “I needed to find a neater and cleaner way to fit meals into my hectic lifestyle.”

The original design was submitted to the Durham office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers. For more information, write Dept. 14-RDC-2038, InventHelp, 217 Ninth Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222, or call (412) 288-1300 ext. 1368. PITTSBURGH, PA (PRWEB) September 28, 2015

Adam Equipment Now Offering OIML E2 Calibration Weights in North America and Latin America

Calibration is necessary to maintain repeatable, accurate balance readings

Danbury, Conn. (PRWEB) September 29, 2015

Adam Equipment, a worldwide manufacturer of scales and balances for professionals, is now offering OIML E2 class calibration weights to customers in both North and Latin America. The weight sets are certified to International Organisation of Legal Metrology (OIML) standards. Adam has previously offered OIML class weights only to customers in Europe, Australia and Africa.

Adam Equipment’s OIML E2 class weights provide excellent accuracy and are ideal for calibrating analytical and precision balances. The weights come in sets of 1g – 200g or 1mg – 200g, and are crafted of highly polished stainless steel to help prevent corrosion. The weight sets are packaged in a lined aluminum box, complete with forceps and white cotton glove.

Adam Equipment's calibration weights can simplify external calibration on any lab balance. For labs that perform high-precision testing, using OIML class weights for calibration ensures traceability to national and international standards. Certificates of traceability for all of Adam Equipment’s OIML class weights are available at the time the weights are purchased.

In addition to OIML weights, Adam offers class 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 ASTM weights, individually or in sets. ASTM weights are based on standards set by the American Society for Testing and Materials.

To achieve optimum calibration results, it’s important to take proper care of the weights. To keep them clean, always store weights in a protective lined case. Even small dust particles on the weights can affect calibration results on highly sensitive balances. Using gloves or tweezers to handle weights can protect the surface from fingerprints, dirt or lint. If any residual dust from the air is present on the weight, use a soft, lightweight brush to help remove it before starting the calibration process. If there is a temperature difference between the weights and the balance, wait to calibrate until the weights adjust to the same temperature as the balance.

Balance calibration is essential for accurate weighing results. For more information on when and why to calibrate your balance, visit http://bit.ly/CalibrationArticle.

In addition to offering lower prices to its customers, AMP® Lighting provides its professionals an ecommerce site in a password-protected environment. The pros can place orders online 24/7, access their order histories and wish list, and track orders based on purchase orders and projects.

AMP® Lighting takes advantage of modern efficiencies in every stage of its operations. The company owns three fully stocked shipping facilities to ensure delivery in one to three days. In-house lighting specialists are on hand to answer questions 7-days a week. And, the company is fully staffed with lighting experts engaged in an aggressive product development program. AMP® lights are among the most durable, reliable, and advanced in the industry and carry lifetime warranties.

International District Energy Association Hosts Beijing District Heating Group for Discussion of Thermal Energy and CHP

Industry association welcomes leadership of Beijing District Heating Group for international dialogue and knowledge exchange

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) September 29, 2015

On September 25, 2015 in Cambridge, MA the International District Energy Association (IDEA) hosted the Beijing District Heating Group (BDHG) during their study tour of North America. Friday’s activities included presentations from Mr. Liu Shui Yang, President of BDHG; Rob Thornton, President and CEO of IDEA; Bob Manning, Director of Engineering and Utilities of Harvard University; and Garen Demirchian, Managing Principal of Vanderweil Engineers. As part of the group’s larger trip to North America, BDHG also visited with Doherty Engineering and Enwave Energy in Toronto, Ontario and toured the East River Generating Station in Manhattan as guests of the Con Edison Steam Company of New York.

Mr. Liu Shui Yang of BDHG educated the group about the current state of district heating in China, bringing awareness to the structure of China’s energy portfolio and the country’s goals for fuel source distribution in the future. As part of a key urban environmental strategy for Beijing, BDHG is planning to invest over $100 billion RMB (approx $20 billion USD) by 2030 to accelerate higher efficiency and lower emissions through district energy deployment. With significant changes underway in China to move toward a cleaner and more resilient energy future, the representatives of BDHG were interested to learn about local, state and federal policies in place in the US that help advance the district energy and combined heat and power (CHP) industries.

IDEA presented findings on the North American district energy industry along with policy and regulatory updates. Host Harvard University presented historical and technical information on the Harvard University district heating and cooling system, followed by a tour of Harvard University’s Blackstone Steam Plant, a vintage 1906 powerhouse on Memorial Drive in Cambridge that is being retrofitted for microgrid operations. The service area of the Blackstone Steam Plant covers a substantial portion of Harvard’s campuses and approximately 90% of its steam output is recycled back to the plant as condensate.

Last month, IDEA signed an international memorandum of understanding (MOU) in conjunction with the Korea District Heating & Cooling Association, the China District Heating Association, Euroheat & Power, and the Ministry of Energy of the Mongol Government. The recent meeting between IDEA and BDHG reinforces the points agreed upon in the MOU, most importantly the effort to increase international collaboration and knowledge exchange among participating nations.

Rob Thornton, President & CEO of IDEA, says “We are pleased to welcome President Liu Shui Yang and his colleagues from Beijing District Heating Group to the United States and to Cambridge, MA for a tour of Harvard University’s district energy/combined heat and power microgrid. The scale of district heating across Beijing is enormous and we applaud BDHG for their impressive achievements in expanding the heating network, reducing customer energy intensity and emissions while lowering the overall carbon footprint for Beijing. They are making good progress on their strategy of 'blue sky, green energy, and smart heating'.”

The International District Energy Association (IDEA) was founded in 1909 with the mission to foster the success of its members as leaders in providing reliable, economical, efficient and environmentally-sound district energy services. The association’s membership consists of over 2000 representatives from utilities, municipalities, universities, hospitals, military bases, airports, industrial parks and other physical plant systems engaged in supplying thermal energy for heating, cooling and process uses. IDEA also represents engineers, architects, consultants, manufacturers and finance specialists who supply services and equipment for district energy systems.

The publication titled "Use of Nape and Peri- Auricular Hair By FUE to Create Soft Hairlines and Temples", discusses the findings from Dr. Umar's research study on 128 male patients. These findings shed light on new information which supports a new view that in selected candidates, finer grafts from the nape and areas close to the ears can indeed serve as a viable resource for hair restoration surgery and a tool for creating more natural looking softer hairlines that would be more difficult to detect as transplanted hairlines.

Modern hair transplantation has come a long way in being able to create remarkably inconspicuous results. Yet, with conventional methods, there are still limitations in being able to render the gradual thicknesses of hair found in natural hairlines.

The majority of surgeons around the world rely on grafts taken exclusively from the middle of the back and sides of the head. Without much study to support doing so. Doctors have long avoided the use of thinner hairs located outside of this narrow zone (called the Safe Donor Area – SDA), fearing that they would not survive long term. However, hairs from this “SDA” zone are the thickest of hairs in the entire scalp and when used to create hairline by hair transplantation tend to impart harsher, pluggier and unnatural look to the dissatisfaction of discerning patients, who expect and prefer a more natural and softer hairline. This challenge to conventionally created hairline is further heightened in women whose hairlines requires a larger transition zone of softness, temple areas, as well as certain demographic groups such as most patients of East Asians descent whose scalp hairs are typically thicker relative to other demographic groups. Although nape hair (hair from the area below the SDA to a line abutting the neck) and the peri-auricular hair (hair found just above the ears) are typically the thinnest hairs in the scalp and hence a better fit for crafting a softer more natural looking hairlines and temples in hair transplantation; they have not been utilized to assuage the problem of unnatural hairline created by conventional hair transplantation for fear of future loss. Thus in conventionally created hairlines, coarser SDA hairs can appear quite noticeable, and even out of place, compared to the soft progression of natural hairlines, where finer hairs along the outer edge graduate to thicker ones towards the back.

Summary of the Nape Hair Study

Between November 2006 and November 2011, Dr. Umar performed FUE hair transplants in 128 patients using a specialized punch tool (UPunch®) which is part of an FUE technology he developed himself known as the UGraft Revolution™. His instrumentation is designed to create uniquely configured extractions that avoid typical forms of graft damage associated with conventional FUE transplant punches which are better suited for straighter hairs. Additionally it imparts a relatively better cosmetic wound healing outcomes standards due to the way it has been engineered.

In the study, nape and periauricular follicles (NPA) were used to recreate the softer vanguard hairs along the outer perimeter of the hairline and temples.

The potential for long term survival of these finer hairs was determined by newly described test (The FUE Shave Test) by Dr Umar. In the test, subjects had their heads shaved into crew cuts. In those destined to become severely bald (Norwood 7’s), clear lines of demarcation are revealed, marking the final wreath of hair around the lower portions of the scalp. However, most men do not display this trait. And the participants without this line could then qualify for hair transplantation using soft nape and peri-auricular hair. In most of these candidates, the study findings supports that in most qualified candidates, NPA grafts resulted in soft natural looking hairlines that remain intact in the long term.

About 2.3 years following surgery, 91 of the 128 subjects (71%) responded to a follow up survey, expressing a high rate of satisfaction with their results. Furthermore, to investigate for longevity of NPA graft results, a 2nd survey was sent to at an average of 4.6 years after surgery. The majority of those who responded to this longevity survey gave an average rating of of 8.5/10 on their continued satisfaction with their results.

Significance of Study - Hair Transplantation Takes Yet Another Leap Forward

1.    SOFTER NATURAL LOOKING HAIRLINES
Until about the late 80s, hair restoration procedures had been conducted using large 42mm sized punches, creating pluggy, doll-like hair. With more recent methods like strip surgery and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), much smaller grafts came to be used. These consisted of naturally occurring clusters of 2-4 haired follicles. However, both forms of surgery have long depended on hairs from the middle of the back of the head which naturally typically contain the thickest caliber hairs in in the scalp. Despite best efforts, these hairs even when planted in singles have often resulted in relatively harsher looking pluggy hairlines leading to tell tale signs that onlookers can pick up often to the discomfort of the patients. "This is a less talked about yet vexing issue in hair transplantation" says Dr Umar. Since the hairline sits above the eyes and it is the most noticeable aspect of a person’s hair from a social perspective. The study represents thus, a new stride in the evolution of hair restoration, allowing patients to enjoy the satisfaction of possessing more realistic and truly natural looking hairlines.

2.     INCREASED DONOR POOL
According to Dr Umar, “the entire NPA area in suitable candidates (patients passing the FUE SHAVE TEST he described in the study) can yield anywhere between 1500 to 3000 grafts lifetime supply. In such patients, FUE practitioners can conceivable utilize most hairs that lie outside the so-called SDA, such as the parietal areas of the scalp (closer to the temples). This translates to 3000 to 4500 lifetime donor supply in addition to what was achievable using conventional SDA grafts alone.”

The study supports a new view and challenges the long held unproven belief that only thicker hairs in a narrow band of skin in the middle of the back of the scalp can be used for transplantation.

The following video depicts one of the patients presented in the study. Using hair from the nape area, Dr Umar corrected his sharp widow's peak hairline by FUE using his UPunch® and UGraft™ technology. Four years later, the patient is still enjoying a very natural and soft hairline, proving that use nape and peri-auricular hair in patients qualified by the FUE Shave Test is long lasting.

FirstService Residential Kicks off Fire Prevention Week with List of Top Safety Tips for Residents

Nation's leading property manager rounds up advice and practices to help keep planned communities and multifamily buildings safe against fires.

DANIA BEACH, Fla. (PRWEB) September 29, 2015

Wildfires have increased dramatically in recent years, with more than 40,000 fires blazing this year alone. Managers with FirstService Residential, North America’s largest, full-service manager of residential communities, are channeling creative solutions to keep fire damages to a minimum.

This year’s theme for Fire Prevention Week (October 4-10) is, “Hear the beep where you sleep.” But for residents at one FirstService Residential Orange County property, they heard “baa’s” instead. Property Manager Brian Taylor pioneered an ingenious plan to use a herd of goats to clear out 40 acres of wild brush that posed a danger to the neighboring community. The goats ate through the wild brush in less than a month to eliminate the fire hazard, and in the process saved the association thousands of dollars in manpower and gas consumption from having to use heavy landscaping equipment. As an added bonus, the goats brought the community together as families gathered for the impromptu petting zoo along the roadside.

While not every community association manager can use goats as part of their fire prevention efforts, they must have a core set of plans to help residents fire-proof their homes to keep communities safe Drawing from their extensive expertise in fire safety and prevention practices, FirstService Residential experts compiled a list of the top fire prevention tips for residents and communities to follow:

1.    Clear the gutters
In dry conditions, plant debris, sediment and dirt can fill up a home’s gutters, creating dangerous conditions for flying embers from a nearby BBQ to ignite larger flames. Ensuring that gutters are clean is one way to limit the chances of dry debris catching on fire.

2.    Do not use potted plants as ashtrays
Using a potted plant as an indoor ashtray may seem desirable, but the fact is that a lit cigarette mixed with plant soil can actually combust into flames. Potting soil is not dirt. It is made up of combustible organic materials such as peat moss, shredded wood or bark, vermiculite and/or perlite that incorporate oxygen into the soil and fertilizer. Add a burning ember, such as a cigarette butt, to the mix and you have a recipe for disaster.

3.    Take the heat and stay in the kitchen
A watched pot never boils, but an unwatched pan may catch fire. Never leave heated cooking materials unattended. Overcooked crumbs have the potential to catch fire without notice and poor ventilation in the kitchen can cause a fire to spread quickly.

4.    Unplug your hair styling tools
There has been a significant rise in accidents correlated with hair straighteners and curling irons. These products can easily reach up to 450°F, and when paired with a flammable substance, like a stray tissue or nearby can of hairspray, a flame can be ignited in seconds. Unplug all heated hair products when not in use – even if only for a few seconds.

5.    Prepare for your pets
The importance of crafting a clear safety plan for a family is already clear, but it’s important to consider the furrier family members. In fact, many local fire departments keep pet-specific oxygen masks available to help everyone, including pets, breathe easier during a fire. Keep pets collared and tagged, even indoors, and keep a spare leash near every exit to make it easy to grab and go in case of emergency. If you’re not big on collars, consider microchipping your pet to make them easier to locate in case you’re separated in an evacuation.

6.    Practice makes perfect
Develop a family safety plan to make a quick exit in the event of a fire. Practicing as a group to keep everyone in the family involved and comfortable with the exit plan helps to create quick, smart thinking during a high-pressure situation.

In addition, FirstService Residential offers key practices specific for residents in multifamily properties such as condominiums, where fires can be difficult to isolate. Before fire is discovered, building occupants should:

  •     Familiarize themselves with the building’s fire safety guide as well as the building’s fire and life safety equipment.
  •     Know the location of the closest exits, including stairwells and fire escapes.
  •     Understand the requirements of the building’s Emergency Action Plan (EAP) pertaining to their responsibilities, cooperate with the Building Emergency Response Team, and participate in EAP drills.
  •     Request free fire safety presentations/trainings. A unit owner can ask the property manager to arrange for professionally trained fire prevention staff to develop a plan of action best suited for their building.

Industrial Magnetics’ new permanent magnetic steel sheet metal fanner, the Sheet Seeker®, revolutionizes traditional designs for a 60% decrease in weight and greater portability between metal stacks.

Boyne City, MI (PRWEB) September 30, 2015

IMI's new steel sheet metal fanner, the Sheet Seeker®, revolutionizes traditional magnetic separator designs for a 60% decrease in weight and greater portability between metal stacks.

Magnetic sheet separators are used to separate, or fan, stacks of steel sheet metal. When a large magnet is placed against the edge of a stack, the magnetic field forces the steel sheets to fan, making it easy for either an operator or an automated material handling system to destack only one sheet at a time.

The Sheet Seeker features a patented, sliding mechanism that allows the powerful rare earth magnetic circuit to index down automatically as metal sheets or blanks are removed from the stack. By focusing the magnetic circuit only where it’s needed, a 60% reduction in the overall weight of the unit was achieved, while maintaining the same fanning strength.

Capable of fanning 30 gauge sheets to 3/16” plate, the Sheet Seeker is available in 12” – 24” heights and is constructed of durable stainless steel. All models feature a convenient carry handle for user-friendly transport and safe and efficient mid-stack changeover of blanking lines.

Custom designs and options are available upon request, including an on/off magnetic base in place of a standard mounting bracket for fast and easy setup.

InventHelp, founded in 1984, is working to submit H.E.R.S. - HAPPY EARTH RECYCLING SYSTEM to companies for review.

PITTSBURGH, PA (PRWEB) September 30, 2015

While your intentions are probably good when it comes to recycling, are there times when you find it too inconvenient? Well, thanks to an inventor from Pocahontas, Ill., recycling can be practically effortless.

She developed the patent-pending H.E.R.S. HAPPY EARTH RECYCLING SYSTEM to provide a fast and easy way to recycle items like plastic, glass, metal and paper. As such, it eliminates the need for repeated trips to carry recyclables outside.

Therefore, it is particularly beneficial for apartment dwelling, the elderly, handicapped or others with physical limitations. Furthermore, it saves time and effort and prevents back strain from lifting heavy bags of recyclables. At the same time, it helps reduce the amount of waste in landfills, thus protecting the environment. It is also convenient, effective, sturdy and affordably priced. In addition, it is maintenance free and easy to install and operate.

The inventor’s personal concerns inspired the idea. “I am interested in protecting the environment and felt obligated to pursue this idea to raise awareness about green living and the need for recycling,” she said.
